On Friday, April 17th, 2009 K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd (Ontario) participating in the 5th Annual Simulcast event in the Greater Toronto Area. It was the second time in two years K-Line has participated in the event. The event is a safety presentation to thousands of high school students across the province of Ontario on the same day. It features a video “We Miss David” where Rob Ellis (a speaker at an Ontario Semi-Annual Meeting) talks about his son David who was killed in a workplace injury on his second day on the job. David was 18 years old.
This year, K-Line teamed up with one of our customers, PowerStream, a large Ontario utility. K-Line was represented by Jim Kellett—Senior VP Operations and Engineering, Julian Hogeterp—Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, John Wood—Manager, Overhead Lines, and Tony Shaw—General Foreman. PowerStream was represented by Neil Fernie and Eric Rozeboom. Other participants in the photo include representatives from the IBEW and a Toronto law firm.
Following the high school presentation, company representatives from employer “champions” that participated in the event gathered for a luncheon with Ontario Minister of Labour, Hon. Peter Fonseca. K-Line has now participated in this event across the country, having been an employer champion in Ontario and Alberta high schools.
