K-Line Receives Hugh Carroll Award Again : Aug 16, 2010

For the third time in a row, K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd has been awarded the R.H. (Hugh) Carroll Award by the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO). The award was created in 1999 by ECAO to pay tribute to the member firms who best exemplify dedication and commitment to safety as exhibited by R.H. (Hugh) Carroll through his years of service in the industry. The winners were announced at ECAO's Annual General Meeting on June 26th in Kingston, Ontario and will be featured in an upcoming issue of The Ontario Electrical Contractor magazine. K-Line was the recipient contractor with more than 50,000 working person hours, and has been winner in this category for 2008, 2009 and now again in 2010!

  

K-Line Awarded SaskPower Contracts : Aug 16, 2010

K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd. has recently been awarded three SaskPower transmission project contracts.

  • The first project is the Yellowhead Power Station
  • Second is the Keystone Stewart Valley Transmission line
  • Project three is the BHP Billiton, a 20 km temporary construction service for a new potash mine being constructed by BHP Billiton.

K-Line made the strategic decision to start a Transmission Project Division is Saskatchewan, with Blaine McCormick as the Operations Manager for this Division. These are the first transmission jobs K-Line has been awarded since the Raven Lake-Birtle 230 Kv line for Manitoba Hydro in 1996.

K-Line Signs Long-Term Contract with Fortis Alberta : Jun 7, 2010

            K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd. is quickly making an impression in the province of Alberta after expanding their operations there in January 2010. The foundation for their success was an established business model, strong company values and attention to health and safety in both Ontario and Saskatchewan. K-Line presents value laden work and for that reason Fortis awarded them the three year contract with a one year extension. With the addition of United Utilities Services to the K-Line Group, K-Line was able to offer Fortis Alberta seven crews for the A Contract in Lethbridge West, as well as maintain their B contract for Lethbridge East. In addition to these areas, K-Line was awarded the C contract for Calgary and could therefore be asked to assist with overflow work.

Due to recent success with Fortis Alberta, and to better service these regions, K-Line is opening an operational facility in Lethbridge to compliment an already existing office in Brooks Alberta.

In addition to the long term contract, K-Line responded to three large storms over the past five months restoring power quickly, safely, and professionally.     

K-Line Achieves ZeroQuest Outcomes Level III : Jun 7, 2010

     Industry representatives from across Ontario gathered at the final Electrical & Utilities Safety Association (E&USA) Annual General Conference over the weekend in May 2010. The association has now amalgamated with the Transportation Health and Safety and Construction Safety Associations to form the Infrastrucuture Health and Safety Association.

     At the event, firms that have made significant progress in the performance of their health and safety systems were recognized for their achievements in the ZeroQuest program. K-Line joined the industry in its vision of Zero in 2000, and formally joined the ZeroQuest program in 2005.

     This year, K-Line celebrated its achievement of Outcomes (Gold) Level III- the first and only electrical contractor in the country to date to reach this level. The Outcomes Levels are a five year journey to demonstrate that the health and safety system is sustained through metrics and key performance indicators. It also requires demonstration of continual improvement, risk management, and initatives and programs to assist the company in managing safety.

United Utility Services Joins the K-Line Group : Mar 3, 2010

March 4, 2010 – Alberta-based United Utility Services Ltd., a high and low-voltage electrical and irrigation services contractor joined the K-Line Group of Companies effective February 24, 2010. The acquisition expands K-Line’s presence in Alberta by adding low-voltage electrical and irrigation supply and installation services to its overhead lines electrical services division. 

K-Line Group of Companies co-owners Mark and Allan Kellett identified the need for additional electrical services in the Alberta marketplace. K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd. along with United Utility Services (2010) Ltd. offers our respective industries a safety-minded, quality driven, turn-key services provider.

The K-Line Group of Companies will operate in Alberta as K-Line Maintenance & Construction Ltd. and will be led by Allen Moss, Manager – Alberta Operations. United Utility Services founder Carl Fortin will be staying on and continuing to work with K-Line and United Utility Services 2010 Ltd. United Utility Services will continue to operate, providing electrical installation and maintenance services to Alberta customers. The K-Line/United Utilities Services operations centre is based in Brooks, Alberta.

PowerStream Awards K-Line/K-Tek Park Place MS : Nov 26, 2009

PowerStream Inc, the third largest local electricity distribution company in Ontario awards the K-Line/K-Tek team a design/build contract for Park Place MS which is to be built within the City of Barrie. The requirements for this turnkey Municipal Substation consist of one 44kV circuit breaker, one 44/13.8kV, 20/26.6/33.3MVA Power Transformer, and one 13.8kV switchgear line-up. K-Line/K-Tek are also responsible for auxiliary systems, protection systems, substation building and all civil works.
